In a room
halogen and fluorescent,
concrete and tile,
she is leaves,
vibrant green, encircled
by bricks,
the hard exterior protects her.
Keeps her off the floor
supports her.
It keeps her water, vital,
from leaking
out of the dirt she lies in and
all over the floor.
sentries protecting her,
Bricks.
Encircled with dirt and her,
lying on cold grey
concrete.
A dead room.
She is the only source of life, and the first thing
noticed.
Looking closely,
the hint of creeping death.
Brown leaves
mingled with green life
Taking over.
First one, then two
then four, then eight.
She doesn’t notice,
She’s simply content being
a source of artificial life surrounded by brick sentries,
in an artificial room.
