The Squirrel, Ever Vigiliant, Always Working: Poem
This is another case where it would behoove hubpages to allow center formatting. This poem is heavily reliant on format (which maybe means it's not that strong of a poem, but, that is a subjective claim, i suppose). I've posted it to my personal blog, so you can view the way I formatted it. You can view both versions and decide what you like better!
Ever Vigilant,
The Squirrel,
Always Working
down
who desire his flesh
down
and runs
down
winter
Up
across he runs
pauses peeks
ever vigilant of hawks
eagles owls
Up
across he Scurries
scrounges
for nuts, fruits the grand prize:
a discarded apple core
a half-eaten sandwich
he fills his cheeks
Up
across to his home
in the tree tops
secure and panting
stowing
for like the hawk
Is descending.
