I have impressed myself with my consistency to get these articles out every week. however, I have found that the format I was using was far too time consuming so I have decided to go more bare bones. I hope you will still enjoy the experience.

Last week I made a lot of risky picks, most of which didn't pay off (I finished below .500 for the first time this season, counting the tie between the Panthers and the Bengals as a loss) This week, there are a lot of home team favorites so most of my picks have the home team winning.

Am I stubborn not believing in the Eagles or the Cowboys, even though the thunked their respective opponents? Maybe. Both those teams have a history of fading down the stretch. They won't make believers out of me until I see one of them raising the Lombardi. Are the Cardinals for real? They're the only team in the NFL to not throw a pick. Can the Jags have a perfectly terrible season? it looks like it...

Now, onto the picks...

Bye weeks: Eagles, Buccaneers

New York Jets (1-5) @ New England (4-2)

So much for this writers' claim that the Patriots are on the decline. Tom Brady has been on fire the last two weeks putting up gaudy numbers. The Jets have no playmakers and a suspect defense. That's a recipe for a blowout on the road.

Jets 10 Patriots 27

result: Jets 25 Patriots 27

Minnesota (2-4) @ Buffalo (3-3)

The Bills may be a legit playoff team it turns out. The Vikings don't have much in the way of defense but have shown some sparks on offense, even without A.P. The Bills have more to play for and more to prove and I think they take it.

Vikings 20 Bills 23

result: Vikings 16 Bills 17

Miami @ Chicago

The most unpredictable team in the NFC meets the most unpredictable team in the AFC. Flip a coin. Miami.

Dolphins 28 Bears 24

result:

Dolphins 27 Bears 14

New Or\leans (2-3) @ Detroit (4-2)

The Lions offense has been surprisingly pedestrian but their defense has been elite. The Saints are coming off a bye but I don't think it was enough to fix a putrid defense. Looks for plenty of points but the home team stiffens when it counts.

Saints 27 Lions 31

result: Saints 23 Lions 24

Carolina (3-2-1) @ Green Bay (4-2)

Both of these offenses have been prolific but, the defenses have not been great-- which was supposed to be a strong suit for the Panthers. I think this should be a fun high scoring battle that will go down to the last play.

Panthers 30 Packers 31

Result: Panthers 17 Packers 38

Cincinnati (3-2-1) @ Indianapolis (4-2)

Coming off a tie, the Bengals are likely looking to flush the flavor of a sisters' kiss. The Colts have looked sharp and Andrew Luck has been the best QB in the NFL for the past four weeks. I look for him to shred a suddenly ho-hum Cincinnati defense.

Bengals 20 Colts 27

Result: Bengals 0 Colts 27

Seattle (3-2) @ St. Louis (1-4)

Seattle hasn't looked sharp and were embarrassed at home against an upstart Dallas team. The Rams were just punished by a more physical team at home. I look for more of the same here as the Rams boast the worst secondary in the NFL. Russell Wilson, Beast Mode and Percy Harvin play angry and romp.

Seahawks 34 Rams 14

Result: Seahawks 26 Rams 28

Tennessee (2-4) @ Washington (1-5)

The Redskins have been competitive but this is clearly a team that is a step down from most of the NFL. The same could be said of the Titans. But, with fewer play makers and playing on the road, I think the Titans fall short.

Titans 21 Redskins 26

Result: Titans 17 Redskins 19

Cleveland (3-2) @ Jacksonville (0-6)

I've become a believer in the Browns and if they can learn how to play some defense, they could be a legit playoff contender behind Hoyer, Tate and Crowell. The Jaguars continue to compete and nearly won last week. Moral victories don't count, but real losses do, and they'll see another of those here.

Browns 24 Jaguars 17

Result: Browns 6 Jaguars 24

Falcons (2-4) @ Baltimore (4-2)

The Falcons continue to be one of the most inconsistent and unbalanced teams in the NFL. Now, they travel to Baltimore and face a solid Ravens team. Matt Ryan and company will go home licking their wounds.

Falcons 20 Ravens 28

Result: Falcons 7 Ravens 29

Kansas City (2-3) @ San Diego (5-1)

Few quarterbacks have been better than Phillip Rivers the last five weeks and few teams have been more pedestrian than the Chiefs. I think the home team takes it.

Chiefs 16 Chargers 26

Result: Chiefs 23 Chargers 20

New York Giants (3-3) @ Dallas (5-1)

Will this week be the week that the real Cowboys show up? Yep. Romo has been playing mistake free ball and DeMarco Murray has been a workhouse. Both those things change this week as Romo does his best Eli Manning impression in my Upset Special.

Giants 31 Cowboys 17

Result: Giants 21 Cowboys 31

Arizona( 4-1) @ Oakland (0-5)

The Cardinals are the only team in the NFL that has not thrown an interception. That probably won't change this week. The Raiders competed at home against the Chargers last week. It will be a different story this week.

Cardinals 20 Raiders 13

result: Cardinals 24 Raiders 13

San Francisco (4-2) @ Denver (4-1)

The 49ers got away with a bad game plan last week. Now, on short rest on the second game of a road trip, I think Manning will pick apart a suspect Niners secondary. Manning breaks Favre's record... and then some.

49ers 17 Broncos 28

result: 49ers 17 Broncos 42

Houston (3-3) @ Pittsburgh (3-3)

What do you do? Do you pick the inconsistent team with the better defense (Houston) or the inconsistent team with the better offense? I think Pittsburgh will struggle to move the football but, backed by a raucous home crowd, they eke out a victory.

Texans 17 Steelers 21

Result: Texans 23 Steelers 30
